Celiac-Awareness-Month-Third-Coast-Bakery

Celiac Awareness Month is an event held each May and is supported by organizations throughout the United States. This event raises awareness about celiac disease, the sensitivity to gluten, and supports the National Foundation for Celiac Awareness which helps those who are affected. Third Coast Bakery is a proud supporter of this cause and we focus all of our products around those who are affected by celiac disease. We want to make sure that everyone is able to enjoy delicious baked goods and treats while keeping a healthy outlook on what is consumed.

From cookies to scones and donuts to breads, we provide a variety of baked goods for all to enjoy! Please take the time to raise awareness and participate in any local events that help support this cause. Thank you to everyone who supports Third Coast Bakery and the mission statement behind it!

What Is Celiac Disease?

Celiac disease is an autoimmune disorder that can occur in genetically predisposed people where the ingestion of gluten leads to damage in the small intestine.  It is estimated to affect 1 in 100 people worldwide.  2.5 million Americans are undiagnosed and are at risk for long-term health complications.

For those who are affected by this disease, the only current treatment is to avoid foods which contain gluten. This awareness event helps educate and inform the public about gluten-free foods, the symptoms and effects of celiac disease, and the importance of appropriate labeling on food items.
